I am shocked and saddened on learning of Marek's sudden death. I met him when he came to Herat, Afghanistan on his first mission. We shared many stories, laughs and hours talking. He was a likeable, happy person who enjoyed working to help others. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him and the many friends he has made throughout his career with ICRC
